The warehouse retailer targets 33 openings and expands nationwide delivery partnerships.
Costco Wholesale expects capital spending to reach approximately $7.5 billion in fiscal 2027 as it accelerates its store expansion. The retailer aims to open 33 warehouses during the fiscal year, including five relocations. This move brings the company closer to the target set by CEO Ron Vachris of adding roughly 30 net new locations annually. Costco ended fiscal 2026 with 939 warehouses after spending $6.4 billion on capital projects during the year.
The expansion follows strong quarterly performance. In the fourth quarter, net sales reached $93.87 billion, up 9.4% on a comparable sales basis. Net income came in just under $3 billion, representing $6.75 per diluted share.
Membership metrics remained steady across key markets. Costco finished the quarter with 42.3 million paid executive members and posted a renewal rate of 92.3% in the United States and Canada. Alongside physical stores, Costco is expanding its nationwide delivery partnerships with Uber Eats and DoorDash across the United States. Management noted that sales through these digital channels have been mostly incremental rather than reducing warehouse revenue. The company also registered triple-digit growth in AI search traffic, though management noted that agentic commerce remains in an early stage.
