OpenAI to preview GPT-6 Cyber and new security tool

OpenAI is preparing to preview its latest cybersecurity-focused artificial intelligence model, GPT-6 Cyber, alongside a new deployment product in the coming weeks. The new tool aims to help enterprise clients build automated workflows, patch vulnerabilities, and deploy the model securely, while giving OpenAI greater oversight to monitor safety.

A limited number of clients in OpenAI's application-only Daybreak Red program already have access to GPT-6 Cyber for alpha testing. The Daybreak cybersecurity initiative features two tiers: Daybreak Red provides access to the most advanced security products, while Daybreak Blue offers broader access, though both require an application.

GPT-6 Cyber represents OpenAI's fourth cybersecurity-focused model released in 2026. The company launched GPT-5.4 Cyber in April 2026, GPT-5.5 Cyber in June 2026, and GPT-5.6 Cyber in August 2026. Enterprise sales for these security tools are led by Chief Revenue Officer Dali Rajic, who joined OpenAI in August 2026. Earlier in September 2026, OpenAI pledged to invest $1 billion to subsidize cybersecurity products for critical services.

OpenAI also plans to launch a dozen or more products across enterprise and consumer categories at its annual DevDay event on Sept. 29, 2026. Prior to the event, OpenAI paused major rollouts aside from its budget-focused GPT-6 Sol and Luna models, according to sources familiar with the company's plans.
