The xAI cluster in Memphis could more than double its processors by the end of 2026.
Elon Musk announced that Colossus 2, the artificial intelligence computing cluster built by his xAI company, may more than double its current count of Nvidia chips by the end of the year. The billionaire provided his most detailed timetable yet for expansion plans at the Memphis facility.
Colossus 2 currently operates with 110,000 Nvidia GB200 chips and 440,000 GB300 chips, Musk said in a post on X. Another 220,000 GB300 processors are scheduled to become operational next week, followed by an additional 220,000 expected in November.
Musk added that a further 220,000 chips could come online in late December if the company gets lucky. The business previously stated it plans to equip the Memphis site with 1 million graphics processing units by 2026.
