GPS glitch grounds Embraer E2 planes operated by Azul

A global GPS system failure disrupted flight operations for Embraer E-Jets E2 aircraft on September 22, 2026. Brazilian airline Azul confirmed that the instability affected its E2 fleet, forcing schedule adjustments.

The operational disruption escalated throughout Tuesday afternoon. At 17:30, 43 of Azul's Embraer E195-E2 aircraft were on the ground, while only 2 remained in the air. By 18:45, the number of grounded E195-E2 jets rose to 47, leaving just 1 aircraft airborne.

Azul stated that it adopted operational measures to adjust network scheduling. Meanwhile, rival Brazilian carrier Latam reported no flight abnormalities because its ordered Embraer models will join its fleet only in December. Gol stated that it does not operate aircraft from the Embraer E2 line.
