The group halted sale plans and recapitalised Fast Food Sudamericana across three stages.
Mexican restaurant operator Alsea has injected a total of $10.23 million in cash contributions to strengthen the capital of Fast Food Sudamericana, the entity through which it operates Burger King in Argentina. The capital increases were published in the Argentine official gazette on September 25, 2026.
The recapitalisation took place across three stages between June 2025 and July 2026. The initial increase was about $91,000, followed six months later by $3.2 million, and concluded in July with a $6.22 million contribution. In each instance, new ordinary shares were issued.
The move follows Alsea's decision in mid-February 2026 to halt the sale of its Burger King operations in Argentina and Chile after receiving unappealing offers. A potential buyer, local group El Desembarco, had held talks alongside global franchise owner Restaurant Brands International before discussions stalled. Alsea had previously sold its 54 Burger King locations in Spain between August and November 2024.
Alsea, which holds a 100% direct or indirect stake in the Argentine unit, operates 108 Burger King locations in Argentina, down from 118 reported after opening an Alcorta Shopping branch on January 30. Across the region, Alsea operates 368 Burger King restaurants: 169 in Mexico, 108 in Argentina, and 91 in Chile.
