Enilive will cap diesel at €2.19 and petrol at €1.99 per liter starting September 28.
Italian energy group Eni announced it will cap fuel prices at its Enilive service stations starting September 28. Diesel prices will be limited to €2.19 per liter, and petrol will be capped at €1.99 per liter. The company noted that these price ceilings are roughly €0.17 per liter below current average market levels.
The cap will apply for an initial period of 30 days and may be extended through the end of 2026 depending on market conditions. Eni linked the move to Italy's excise-tax relief measures aimed at reducing the burden of rising energy costs on households and businesses.
Eni stated that it has been absorbing part of the increase in international fuel prices since March instead of passing higher wholesale costs directly to pump prices. The company pointed to long-term supply constraints, noting that nearly 30 European refineries have closed over the past 15 years.
Eni continues refining investments in Italy through Enilive, including biorefineries in Venice and Gela and the conversion of its Livorno industrial site toward biofuels and lower-carbon products.
