Global Warehousing and Distribution offers bulk storage up to 45% below AWD costs.
Amazon announced that sellers can now send a single production batch to one facility near their factory to reach buyers across eight nations. The service, named Global Warehousing and Distribution (GWD), links to the U.S. and will add Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, and the U.K. by the end of the year.
Amazon stated that storage costs under GWD will run up to 45% below Amazon Warehousing and Distribution (AWD) rates in the U.S. once all destinations are connected. Replenishment into Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) centers will speed up by up to five days. Products will sit in a unified inventory pool and dispatch only when demand arises locally.
Only 30% of Amazon sellers currently operate in more than one country, though those who do generate 70% more revenue on average, according to the company. Sunny Jain, vice president of Worldwide Fulfillment by Amazon, noted that international expansion previously required setting up what amounted to a new business in each market.
To address regulatory barriers, Amazon rolled out single-submission compliance testing for toy merchants, which delivered compliance savings of up to 60% in pilot tests. The framework expands to baby products and electronics by year-end, with additional categories following in 2027. Separately, Mary Beth Westmoreland, vice president of Worldwide Selling Partner Experience, revealed multichannel tools enabling U.S. merchants to fulfill orders from eBay, Shopify, TikTok, and Walmart directly through Amazon.
