Amazon commits $100M to new robotics plant in Indiana

Amazon is investing more than $100 million to build a new manufacturing site in Greenwood, Indiana. The facility will expand domestic production of equipment used across the company's logistics and robotics network in North America.

The planned facility will span 585,000 square feet and is scheduled to begin operations by 2028. It will include robotic welding and automated assembly operations. Amazon expects the project to generate 300 skilled jobs across manufacturing, engineering, quality control, and program management, with average annual compensation approaching $100,000.

The project expands Amazon's presence in Indiana, where it has committed over $40 billion since 2008 and supports more than 27,000 direct jobs. Nationally, the retailer has invested more than $230 billion in U.S. manufacturing since 2010. Amazon also operates two robotics manufacturing sites in Massachusetts and announced another robotics project in Texas in August.

Amazon shares fell 1% during morning trading on Thursday following the announcement.
