The carrier combines technology and commercial strategy after terminating its previous commercial executive.
FedEx Freight announced on 14 September 2026 that it has named Mike Rodgers as its chief commercial and technology officer with immediate effect. The appointment came less than two weeks after the company terminated Mike Lyons from the role of chief specialized services and commercial officer.
The new position expands Rodgers' existing duties as chief technology officer, a post he took when joining the business in June 2025. In this enlarged role, Rodgers oversees technology, commercial strategy, customer experience, and marketing. He brings more than 30 years of digital strategy experience, having led technology initiatives at Pilot Company and its network of truck stops and travel centers from 2015 to 2024.
Rodgers played a key role in separating FedEx Freight's information technology systems from parent company FedEx during the spinoff process. That project also involved building a dedicated pricing platform for less-than-truckload freight.
Mike has a deep understanding of our customers and a strong track record of creating customer, business, employee, and shareholder value, which has been built over decades. His leadership, commitment to our culture, and strong relationships across the organization, combined with his broad commercial and operational experience, will help us accelerate and unlock further value as we continue to execute our strategy in the years to come.
