Ecopetrol exports 2,100 tons of solid sulfur

Ecopetrol delivered its first 2,100 tons of bulk solid sulfur directly to chemical and fertilizer clients in Brazil, Peru, and Tanzania, as reported on 3 September 2026. The state-run energy company aims to generate approximately $1 million in profit for the Cartagena Refinery by the end of 2026 through these sales.

The company expects to achieve this profit target by marketing up to 10% of the total sulfur produced and processed at the pelletizing plant opened at Reficar in April 2026. Between June and July, Ecopetrol completed seven shipments of solid sulfur from the Port of Cartagena.

Looking ahead to 2027, Ecopetrol plans to expand its presence across Latin America by entering new markets, including the Dominican Republic and Argentina.
