TotalEnergies Takes Full Ownership of Grandpuits Recycling Plant

TotalEnergies agreed to acquire Plastic Energy's 35% interest in the Grandpuits advanced plastics recycling plant as part of a restructuring of Plastic Energy's shareholding. The transaction gives TotalEnergies complete ownership of the facility, in which it previously held a 65% stake.

Located in Seine-et-Marne, France, the Grandpuits plant began production in March 2026. The facility has an annual processing capacity of 15,000 tons of plastic waste.

The site converts hard-to-recycle household plastics into synthetic oil using a pyrolysis process that heats waste without oxygen. This synthetic oil serves as circular petrochemical feedstock to manufacture plastics suitable for medical and food-contact uses. In 2023, TotalEnergies signed an agreement with French partners Citeo and Paprec to secure long-term waste supplies for the plant.
