Petrobras finds top-quality oil at Morpho offshore well

Petrobras concluded its analysis of crude discovered at the Morpho well in the Foz do Amazonas basin. Renata Baruzzi, director of engineering, technology and innovation, told Reuters on September 21, 2026, that the oil is of very high quality and potentially superior to pre-salt grades.

Speaking at the opening of the ROG.e conference, Baruzzi noted that Petrobras currently accounts for one third of primary energy in Brazil. The company plans to start its exploration campaign on adjacent wells next year to delineate the Morpho discovery and gather more reservoir data.

Separately, Petrobras announced that it has relevant natural gas discoveries to develop in Colombia, where it is presenting new opportunities and plans to disclose commercial contracts.
