The fashion giant opens stores in Porto Alegre and Brasília outside its core Southeast hub.
Inditex announced on 7 September that it is resuming geographic expansion in Brazil. The group will open a new Zara store in Porto Alegre at BarraShoppingSul and launch a Bershka store in Brasília before December 2026. Inditex described the move as selective growth to meet customer demand in prime retail locations.
The company operated 56 Brazilian locations and employed more than 3,000 workers at the end of August 2026. The network included 45 Zara stores, nine Zara Home units, and two Bershka locations. All target locations in this push are properties operated by Multiplan.
The 2,643-square-meter Zara store at BarraShoppingSul marks a return to the mall after exiting in 2022, becoming the brand's largest unit in Rio Grande do Sul. Bershka debuted in Brazil in March 2026 at MorumbiShopping in São Paulo and opened at Rio de Janeiro's BarraShopping on 27 August with over 1,000 square meters. The Brasília debut will be Bershka's third Brazilian store, located at ParkShopping, which inaugurates an expansion of more than 9,000 square meters on 18 November.
Inditex CEO Óscar García Maceiras previously outlined plans to roll out Bershka in Brazil and the United States during 2026. The youth brand operates 854 stores in 68 markets globally, offering lower prices than Zara for consumers aged 13 to 25. Globally, Inditex closed 2025 with 5,460 stores, net sales of €39.9 billion, and net profit of €6.2 billion.
